An Academic’s Story

BIOGRAPHY

I have a B.A. in social psychology from Florida Atlantic University (1993), an M.S. in mental health counseling from Nova Southeastern University (NSU, 2012), and an M.A. in composition, rhetoric, and digital media (CRDM) from NSU (2017). For my CRDM master’s thesis, I completed several chapters of a book titled, “How to Build a Brand on Social Media from the Freedom of Your Phone!” That thesis was based on my work managing several social media sites. I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida. I specialize in treating addiction recovery and co-occurring disorders. I am currently working on my Ed.D. in instructional technology and distance education at NSU. Higher education enriches my life and fuels my deep love for learning. I am a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and I maintain a 4.0 GPA.

The growing options in online education provide opportunities for working persons, parents, and persons with disabilities to find fulfilling careers. I chose the Ed.D. concentration in instructional technology and distance education because I believe in the power of systems design and I enjoy the flexibility and convenience of working remotely.
